    Supporting teacher recruitment

    The DfE are offering a levelling up premium worth up to £3,000 tax-free annually for maths, physics, chemistry and computing teachers working in disadvantaged schools in England, for the first 5 years of their career.

    Eligible teachers will be able to claim payments each year in academic years 2022/23 to 2024/25. Higher payments will be offered to teachers working in Education Investment Areas and the most disadvantaged schools nationally.

    Schools and ITT providers may wish to inform trainees who potentially will be eligible to claim payments from September 2022 onwards.
