Early Career Framework (ECF)
|
|
|
From September 2021, all Early Career Teachers (ECTs) in all English maintained schools and academies - for all phases - have an entitlement to a two-year support programme that builds upon their initial teacher training programme. The Full Induction Programme provides schools with funding from the Department for Education (Df) to release the teacher and their mentor to work together plus the resources for weekly in-school activities and training events for both the ECT and mentor. Bradford Teaching School Hub, in partnership with Ambition Institute*, will facilitate this programme for schools regardless of their phase or type.
Some Bradford schools and academies engaged in the early roll-out pilot of the ECF. The Hub and Ambition Institute are partnering for the national roll-out with an offer for all schools and academies regardless of their prior level of engagement with the ECF. This supersedes the pilot provision.
Schools are encouraged to indicate their anticipated needs for September 2021 now. This will enable us to secure the support for your early career teacher(s) and mentor(s) as the DfE's hub for Bradford and our partners further afield. This is not a firm commitment: a Teaching School Hub colleague will be in touch to discuss your school's needs. Please remember that ECF places are limited and will be allocated on a first-come, first-serve basis.

The three existing leadership NPQs are reformed: the NPQs for Senior Leadership; Headship; and Executive Leaderhip. The NPQ for Middle Leadership is replaced by the three new specialist NPQs.

New report: Today we have published a study on identifying pupils with special educational needs & disabilities (SEND).
We find huge inconsistencies in how children with SEND are identified, with support highly dependent on where a pupil goes to school

Bradford Teaching School Hub, led by Copthorne Primary School and Exceed Academies Trust, has a leading role in signposting and delivering teacher development support to all 213 Bradford schools and our partners in other regions wishing to access support from Bradford Teaching School Hub.
The Hub helps to fulfil one of Exceed Academies Trust's ethical goals: to contribute to system-wide improvements in education.
Designated by the Department for Education (DfE) in February 2020, Bradford Teaching School Hub’s core functions support schools and trusts to invest in their workforce to grow, recruit, develop and retain the very best teachers, support staff and leaders. We will achieve this through a place-based approach to signposting and delivering high-quality progressive teacher development programmes that complement the internal support provided by schools and trusts. Our vision acknowledges teacher and leadership development are two of the most important forms of school improvement. We will achieve this by enhancing partnership working with schools, trusts and high-quality providers; improving the communication of opportunities with the workforce; introducing new professional learning opportunities; supporting teachers and leaders to make informed choices when selecting continuous professional development (CPD) and support, and ensuring that no school is left behind.
Find out more about our vision, strategies and priorities here.
